Mourning in the heavy metal world: Cronos of Venom has died.

The bassist and vocalist of the legendary band Venom died on September 29.
Conrad Lant—known by the stage name Cronos—was the leader of the band that, alongside other British groups, gave rise to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Within this musical movement, he and his bandmates Mantas and Abaddon pioneered the "black metal" genre, becoming a source of inspiration for other bands that followed this innovative style.
The Newcastle-based band did not provide further details regarding the cause of death, announcing the news only several days later.
Theatricality was a key element of their performances; in an interview, he stated: "Ozzy Osbourne sang about the devil. I wanted to be the devil."
